In the Cangyun Realm, the immortals and demons constantly clash. Xu Changqing, born in the Qinglian Sword Valley, aspires to become a sword immortal. However, his good fortune is short-lived. The Ninth Demon General of Cangyue Palace invades Qinglian Sword Valley, and Xu Changqing's grandfather sacrifices himself. Xu Changqing gains the recognition of the "Qinglian Emperor Sword" and fights against the Ninth Demon General but is no match for him. Later, Qiu Wuyai, the Taibai Sword Immortal of Kunlun, arrives, defeats the demonic sect, and takes Xu Changqing and Mu Zixun to Kunlun. The Kunlun immortals want to seize the Qinglian Emperor Sword, but Qiu Wuyai stops them. Xu Changqing awakens his immortal spirit, the "Chaos Gathering Spirit Tablet," and is taken in as a disciple by Qiu Wuyai. In the Immortal Sword Competition, Xu Changqing defeats Xia Qinghou to win the crown and gains the qualification to enter the Kunlun Forbidden Land. In order to find the Fountain of Immortality that can revive his grandfather, Xu Changqing chooses to step into the perilous Kunlun Forbidden Land.
